19/12/2016Y6 School journeyYear 6 had a very successful school journey to Swanage. Our five days of activities included a visit to Durlston Country Park where we learnt about the animals and plant life that is found in the area. We discovered the fascinating history of Corfe Castle and how it ended up in ruins. We also learnt about the history of smuggling and how Swanage was used to smuggle goods such as gold and tea into the country. By far the most amazing experience and something that was a huge achievement was the epic 7-mile trek from Studland Beach back to Swanage where we had to rely on the children's compass skills to get us back without getting lost. We are very proud of all the children who came on school journey; their behaviour was excellent and they were a credit to Wyborne. One child summed up the experience perfectly by saying they loved school journey as it had given them the chance to be independent. That's what the week was all about.
