Coronavirus update 16th March 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have received guidance from the Local Authority since the Prime Minister’s address this evening.
The UK government's aim is to delay the spread of the disease and reduce the epidemic's peak (when the number of cases is highest).
Today (16th March), Prime Minster Boris Johnson announced significant new measures to tackle the outbreak. Schools will remain open but anyone with a fever or persistent cough should stay at home for 14 days (this includes those children who have been previously asked to self-isolate for 7 days and now includes siblings in the household). This measure also extends to anyone else who lives in the household.
As a school we will continue to act on advice given to us from the Local Authority and are aware that this is a fast changing situation. We will continue to update you as information and guidance is shared.
I have met with staff and the Chair of Governors today and this evening to discuss ways of providing home learning remotely. We are meeting again tomorrow to look at how WEDUC can support home learning and our existing subscription with Education City, there are also a number of other options. We will keep you informed and will offer WEDUC guidance over next couple of days. I recommend that you download the WEDUC app if you haven’t already. Please do not hesitate to contact the school office should you require assistance.
In the meantime, please refer to government websites for the most recent updates and advice and ring NHS 111 should you have any concerns about your or your family's health.
Thank you for your patience and commitment to keeping calm and showing kindness and support to each other during this extremely difficult period.
