Coronavirus update 19th March 2020
Following the announcement yesterday of school closures for the majority of children, we have been working at school to establish how we will meet the needs of vulnerable children, those with Education Health Care Plans and the children of essential Key Workers. As you are aware the government has still not produced the list of who are essential key workers. I appreciate this is very frustrating for many of you but we are expecting this list to be published soon and I will share it with you once it is announced. Once it is announced please continue to inform email@example.com as soon as you can if Key Worker status applies to you. This will ensure that we can successfully plan for Monday 23rd March.
The Royal Greenwich plan is that all schools will open on Monday as usual for the children listed above.
I am aware that many of you will be concerned about bulk buying and stock piling. Some of the reports are shocking. I think it is important to be respectful at these times to ensure all of the community are supported especially the most vulnerable and elderly. Our catering provider at the moment is working with Royal Greenwich to ensure that all children entitled to Free School Meals or those with nil recourse to public funds will receive a packed lunch. I am waiting to hear from the Local Authority as to how the distribution of these packed lunches will work. I will again update you as soon as more information is released.
Teachers are still working hard on our home learning app and are committed to providing learning tasks for the pupils that can no longer attend school. I am very proud of all staff at Wyborne, they are showing true professionalism and commitment to your children's education. None of us have ever experienced something like this before and the teachers are busy ensuring that there will be curriculum related work available.
I am also extremely proud of the parents, carers and children at Wyborne school. Many have you have been so supportive with your kind words and offers of help and support. I am lucky to lead such a wonderful and caring school. We also have Key Worker parents that are ready and prepared to fight during this crisis. We can all play our part.
I will continue to update you as much as I can and as announcements come out from Royal Greenwich. Thank you for your continued support during this very challenging time.
Please follow government advice to reduce the spread of Covid-19.
